The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 19 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Just Wait Till You See It - In Color.
Just Wait Till You See It – In Color.
Every new Accord features a big, full-color intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), so it’s easy to access a wide range of useful information.
The great-looking i-MID is the focal point of Accord’s instrument panel and gives the interior an upscale, advanced feel. It’s very cool, but you’ll just have to be patient until we can show you what it looks like (come back to the launch website after September 5th). Trust us. It's a colorful example of the car’s much greater standard feature content in every model grade.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 20 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Can You Count to Infinity? (Continuously Variable Transmission)
Can You Count to Infinity?
The 2013 Accord 4-cylinder’s Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) has more gear ratios than you’d care to count.
Conventional automatic transmissions typically have five or six gear ratios to choose from, so the shift logic selects the gear that is the closest to ideal for the situation.
Accord’s CVT, on the other hand, has two variable-width pulleys connected by a metallic belt. The belt can circle the angled pulley faces at varying diameters, depending on the pulley width. The change in effective diameter alters the ratio between the pulleys.
What does that mean in plain English? Instead of approximating the correct ratio for the conditions like a conventional automatic does, Accord’s CVT can precisely select the optimum ratio from moment to moment without conventional shifts or slippage. So if you need power, efficiency – or both – there’s a gear for that (and hundreds more).

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown Begins: 21 Days! In the meantime, we will be providing daily information regarding this highly anticipated release direct from Honda, beginning with: Fewer Gas Pains
Fewer Gas Pains.
With significantly improved fuel efficiency for a midsize automatic-equipped sedan, the 2013 Accord 4-cylinder can save you money at the pump.
Even though the 2013 Accord has more equipment and features than ever before, and it has a new 4-cylinder engine with more horsepower and considerably more torque than the engine it replaces, the vehicle is substantially more fuel-efficient.
What are the main reasons? More use of lighter, stronger steel, a new direct injection system and the available Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). With an essentially infinite range of available gear ratios, the CVT has just the right gear for every situation, maximizing efficiency – and gas station drive-bys.

2013 Honda Accord production fires up with Earth Dreams power
By Jonathon Ramsey l Posted Aug 20th 2012 4:02PM
As one would expect with car as important to Honda as the ninth-generation Accord, the company has made a huge investment in the North American debut of its new direct-injected, 2.4-liter four-cylinder, a new CVT transmission and a 3.5-liter V6 and its optional six-speed automatic. Honda has spent $220 million on expansions, casting operations and automated lines for its associates, and the plant is now able to make 1.8 million Earth Dreams engines annually.
The new engines are said to be good for a 10-percent improvement in fuel economy compared to current offerings, and the powerplants will eventually migrate to other models in Honda's lineup. Check out the press releases below for more information"

Thanks for the great 5-Star review on Yelp of the "top-notch service" you received Darnell and Constance, and enjoy that sporty new 2012 Honda Civic Coupe!
"Today my husband and I purchased a 2012 Honda Civic Coupe. We had a very positive experience. My husband actually arrived at the dealership alone earlier in the afternoon because I had to work. He was fortunate enough to come in contact with Will De La Cruz. Will was very professional and straight to the point. In a matter of no time, he assisted my husband in purchasing the perfect car for our budget. He wasn't pushy and even waited for me to get off work for the final paperwork to be signed. David the finance manager offered us the same top-notch service. Overall, our experience was positive and we received stellar service. We would definitely buy from Ken Harvey's Dublin Honda again.
Sincerely,
Darnell and Constance"

Should Honda Build a 2013 Honda Accord Convertible?
Rumors Suggest Honda Might Get Back Into the Convertible Game
By Ed Hellwig, Editor | Published Aug 21, 2012
"When the 2013 Honda Accord was revealed a few weeks ago it got us thinking. The Accord has been one of the best-selling models in America for years, yet Honda has been hesitant to expand the model lineup beyond the basic coupe and sedan. Sure, there was the original hatchback, a wagon in the early '90s and even the recent Accord Crosstour experiment. But what about something a little more interesting? Something that might inject some life into Honda when it needs it the most? What about a 2013 Honda Accord Convertible?
With that in mind we asked some of our industry sources if such a vehicle had been considered for the latest Accord lineup. Sure enough, they said there was some internal discussion about just such a car. But as far as they could tell, that's about as far as the convertible got.
In fact, when we asked a Honda official if any Accord convertible prototypes existed, he responded with a light-hearted, "Yes! And the really cool thing about them is that at speeds over 60 mph, the wheels retract and high-efficiency jets pop out." We took that as a no, and he confirmed that rumors about such prototypes are "purely fictional."
The idea stuck in our heads, though, so our in-house Photoshop artist created a couple renderings of what an Accord convertible would look like. The result is an attractive look for the new Accord, with clean lines and a refined shape that convertible buyers in this category would likely find enticing. And let's face it, the category is ripe for the taking. Consider what a Honda Accord convertible would be up against. The Camaro and Mustang convertibles are most often considered performance cars or kids convertibles, while the Chrysler 200 is either a rental car or an old person's car depending on whom you ask. Sure, there are more refined drop tops for more money (G37, Lexus IS 250 C, etc.) but an Accord convertible would appeal to those looking to have a little fun without appearing like they cashed out of their kids' college funds to do it.
Seems reasonable to us. Then again, we don't have to engineer the thing, but a basic soft-top mechanism shouldn't be that hard to work up. Honda did a fine job with the S2000's lid. Speaking of which, that car has been out of production for a few years, so it's high time Honda gets back into the convertible game once again. What do you think? Would this convertible be a good addition to the Accord family"

Honda Offers a Peek at '13 Accord
3:01 p.m., Aug. 14, 2012
"The redesigned 2013 Honda Accord that goes on sale this fall will be shorter and will get a new engine family and a continuously variable transmission – huge changes for a car that has slipped against its midsized sedan rivals.
Honda released the first images of the production version of the Accord sedan and coupe last week but provided few new details about the models.
The two photos released show door sculpting and a rear-window kink at the C-pillar that resemble the styling of BMW's latest 3-Series. But the front and rear fascias clearly signal a Honda.
The car's wheelbase will remain the same, but its overall length will shrink. Still, Honda says the 2013 Accord will offer more passenger and cargo room than the outgoing car.
Meanwhile, Honda's interest-rate and lease incentives have soared as high as $4,500 per unit during the sell-down of the outgoing Accord, according to TrueCar.
Along with sportier styling, the 2013 Accord introduces new technology for Honda. The new Earth Dreams engines offer improved output and fuel economy and lower emissions. They have direct injection and double overhead cams.
The base engine will be a 2.4-liter inline-four with more than 181 horsepower and 177 foot-pounds of torque. That means a slight horsepower increase over the outgoing base model, but considerably more torque, with at least 10 percent better fuel economy, Honda engineers have said.
All four-cylinder versions of the Accord with an automatic transmission will have a CVT. The decision could prove to be a gamble because CVTs have not been widely accepted by American buyers and have had reliability problems in some vehicles.
But maybe the biggest question looming – in an era of cost-cutting necessitated by the strong Japanese yen – is what the Accord looks like inside. A repeat of the current Civic's overly plastic interior will not sit well with U.S. customers.
Honda did not release images of the 2013 Accord's interior, but Honda sources say the cabin is an improvement from the current generation."

Honda Leads U.S. Auto Sales Gains as Toyota Extends Rebound
Honda, Japan’s third-largest carmaker, posted an increase of 45 percent, beating the 41 percent average of eight analysts’ estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Sales advanced 26 percent at Toyota Motor Corp. (7203), which like Honda saw deliveries plunge after natural disasters cut parts supplies a year ago, and 16 percent at Nissan Motor Co. Toyota and Nissan also exceeded estimates.
“It really shows how loyal Honda buyers are -- more loyal than we gave them credit for,” said Jesse Toprak, an analyst at TrueCar.com, an automotive pricing and data company in Santa Monica, California. “Not only is Honda winning back market share, they’re doing it faster than anyone expected.”
Sales of new cars and trucks, a bright spot amid a tepid U.S. economic recovery, grew 8.9 percent in July to 1.15 million units, researcher Autodata Corp. said yesterday. The improvement, buoyed by gains for Japan’s Toyota, Honda and Nissan, keeps the industry headed for annual deliveries of more than 14 million, the most in five years.
Hyundai Motor Co. (005380), among the fastest-growing brands in the U.S. during the past three years, reported a 4.1 percent sales increase, while affiliate Kia Motors Corp. (000270)’s rose 5.6 percent. The combined 4.8 percent gain for the two, which operate separately, beat six analysts’ average estimate of a 0.9 percent increase."

2013 Honda Pilot - Review
By Bengt Halvorson July 30, 2012
Especially if you're a household that eschews minivans yet needs a roomy interior, and three rows of seating, the 2013 Pilot remains one of the best picks. The overtly boxy body yields an especially roomy interior, as well as great versatility for busy weekend-hauling needs. Yet with a carlike unibody design, bolstered structurally with some of the benefits of an SUV, the Pilot is able to draw from the best of both worlds. Ride quality is on the firm side, but the optional four-wheel-drive (actually all-wheel drive) system has a Lock mode and is a champ in deep snow or mud. Four-wheel-drive models can tow up to 4,500 pounds.
A five-speed automatic transmission is paired with the familiar 250-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 in the Pilot, and it altogether keeps with Honda's smooth, responsive, and sweet-sounding reputation for these powertrains. EPA highway ratings are now up to 25 mpg, making it one of the most fuel-efficient three-row vehicles. Once you get past the initial surprise of the tall driving position, you'll find handling to be reasonably crisp, with good maneuverability.
The Pilot has for years been a top safety achiever, and it includes side-curtain bags cover all three rows, along with the usual roster of security items. For 2013, a rear-view camera system is standard on all models and helps with visibility, which can be an issue in the blocky, tall Pilot.
The 2013 Honda Pilot remains offered in four different trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring. All four are offered in 2WD or 4WD, but beyond that you need to ante up to one of the top two trims in order to get a lot of the more desirable options and convenience features.
We recommend the more affordable LX and EX models, as they're a better value and don't overlap in pricing with some luxury vehicles, as top-of-the-line Limited models do. They include rear air conditioning, keyless entry, cruise control, and a seven-speaker sound system. Leather upholstery, a Bluetooth hands-free interface, USB/iPod connectivity, a power tailgate, and a navigation system all remain only available on the EX-L and Touring."
