Kudos to our team for doing a great job!

"I just purchased a Honda Accord, I got a great interest rate, even though I did not have the greatest credit score. As always it takes time to purchase a vehicle, but there were areas where you could sit and relax.  The best part was they listened to what I wanted and found a vehicle that would work for me. Thank you Dublin Honda." -Marianne B.

Weekly Car Care Tip: Park in the shade

Shade_parking
Of course, a garage is always the ideal place to park your car. But if one isn’t available, minimize interior damage from UV sunlight and heat by always trying to park your car in the shade. If no shade is available or if you find parking under a tree results in bird droppings, use a car shade to minimize the sun’s impact. As a bonus, you’ll have a cooler car to step into on hot sunny days. Car shades come in two basic types: those that you unfold and place on the front windshield and rear window, or pleated types that attach to the windshield posts (with adhesive), window frames (with Velcro), or the windows themselves (with suction cups).

In a male-dominated market, the cute new Honda Fit She's was created for women

Fitshe
Around the world, building and designing cars remains a male-dominated business, and many companies live by an old axiom that women will buy a man's car but men won't buy a woman's car. While a few companies have attempted to bend that rule, only Honda has chosen to embrace it with the Honda Fit She's -- the only model built by an automaker today aimed exclusively at women. Hope you like pink, ladies.

There's a long and embarrassing history of automakers attempting to lure women with ladies-only models. At the turn of the 20th century, electric cars were marketed to wives with the pitch that their lack of hand-crank starting would avoid broken shoulders and/or death. In 1955, Chrysler made a bid for feminine attention with the Dodge LaFemme -- which came in a two-tone pink-and-white paint scheme, along with a storage place for the matching purse and rain hat. Lest you think modern executives learned from errors of the past, in 2000 Ford showed off a concept Windstar minivan developed with Maytag featuring a compact washer/dryer, microwave and vacuum in the rear hatch, because why would a soccer mom ever want to be parted from her appliances?

Shes_fit_interior
As women have grown to buy more cars in recent decades -- accounting for about one-third of car shoppers in the United States -- such attempts have given way to more savvy marketing. But in Japan, the gender divide remains more stark; half of all working-age women stay out of the workforce due to more stringent societal pressure to choose homemaking over careers, a major reason Japan's economy has been stuck in a rut for decades. But there's a cohort of younger Japanese women putting work first, and in a weak market Honda sees an opening.

Launched this summer, the Honda Fit She's designers say they wanted to take a regular Fit subcompact and make it in their words "adult cute." That means lots of pink: Pink stitching in the seats and steering wheel and floor mats, matched by pink metallic bezels around the shifter and displays. There's also a few extra shades of pink in the special She's badge, spelled with a heart for an apostrophe. If pink isn't a customer's style, Japanese buyers can also select a Fit She's in shades of brown and white that a Honda executive told the Yomuri Shinbun newspaper match the color of eyeshadow.

To Honda's credit, the Fit She's beauty treatment isn't just skin deep. It also comes with special windshield glass that cuts 99 percent of ultraviolet rays and a "Plasmacluster" air conditioning system that Honda claims can improve a driver's skin quality, all aimed at stopping those wrinkles that turn adult cute into just adult. With a starting price of $17,500, the Fit She's got an attractive price for a home-market Japanese car.

Honda moves towards a larger selection of hybrid vehicles

2012-honda-insight
Honda announced a milestone achievement this week. After 12 years and 11 months of global sales, the Japanese automaker sold its one-millionth hybrid.

Honda’s hybrids have come a long way since the original Insight first went on sale in Japan in 1999. In the U.S., Honda introduced the Civic Hybrid, original six-cylinder Accord Hybrid, CR-Z, and the Acura ILX Hybrid, which has the distinction of being the one millionth Honda Hybrid ever sold.

While the original Honda Insight arrived less than a year after the first-generation Toyota Prius in Japan, it actually beat the Prius to the market here in the hybrid-loving United States. Despite that advantage, Toyota has long surpassed the million mark for its hybrid vehicles. In fact, as of May of this year, Toyota has sold four million hybrids globally. Its popular Prius lineup alone has trumped Honda’s hybrid sales; Toyota reached the million marker in U.S. Prius sales back in April, and has sold over two million of the gas sipper globally as of October 2010.

Honda isn’t taking rival Toyota’s hybrid sales lead sitting down. Within the next couple years Honda will be introducing a new generation of hybrids it hopes will slow Toyota’s lead. The new Accord will be getting a plug-in hybrid variant next year and a traditional hybrid after that. In the coming years, Acura may get three new all-wheel-drive hybrids: the four-door RLX hybrid sedan, the reborn Acura NSX, and possibly even an MDX hybrid crossover.

So why have Toyota hybrids thoroughly outsold Honda hybrids? Some say it might have to do with the technology while others might point to the original Prius’ more traditional four-door sedan body style.. Either way, we want to know what you think Honda needs to change in order to attempt to catch Toyota’s hybrid sales. Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

Check out the all new 2013 Honda Accord Touring Edition

2013_honda_accord
This week, we're behind Honda's all-new generation 2013 Accord, delivered in Touring Edition dress which happens to be the most expensive Accord available.

Accord enthusiasts, who have waited eagerly for the all-new new model, have been rewarded for their patience. Explicitly, the new Accord is perhaps one of the best cars Honda has ever built, featuring a sleek new design that is sporty yet classical and re-defines the amount of luxury a car builder can put into a vehicle that starts at just $21,680.

Arriving on our shores in 1976 as a 2-door 68-horsepower 2,000 lb. compact, Accord quickly became a Honda best seller in the compact and mid-size class. Today's Accord, which is built in Marysville, Ohio, and was the very first foreign car built in America, has grown in dimensions (3,500 lbs.) and horsepower (278), along with a bevy of standard features many higher priced luxury cars charge extra for.

Competing in the popular mid-size Camry, Taurus, Malibu, Sonata, Avenger and Altima class ... which just happens to be the most sought after "best selling" category in automobile manufacturing ... Accord is a staunch opponent and ready to knock Camry off its list as the number one seller.

Our Accord Touring tester features no options whatsoever, as the top line model comes fully loaded. It features a unique high-tech Honda "Lane Watch," which activates a camera on the passenger side that allows the driver to see what is going on from front to rear on the passenger side. "Lane Watch" helps when re-entering the right lane after passing and also assists in parallel parking. When stopped for a red-light, the system sees small children or dogs and a host of other happenings. Your Honda dealer will gladly explain both standard and optional high tech features, which are many.

At this point, everyone's perhaps thinking that the aforementioned base LX Accord doesn't feature much at just $21,680.

Think again, sans the "Lane Watch" which is available on the EX series ($24,605) or higher.

For $21,680 Accord LX comes standard with a 185-hp 2.4-Liter four-cylinder, vehicle stability assist, 4-wheel disc ABS, traction control, 6-speed manual transmission (automatic CVT transmission is $800 more), Eco assist system, hill start assist, 16-inch alloy wheels, security system with remote entry, chrome door handles, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, SMS Text Message, steering wheel-mounted cruise, audio, phone and i-MID Controls, Pandora internet radio, all the airbags, USB audio interface, MP3, eight-inch 480x320 resolution display screen with rearview safety camera and chrome exhaust tips. Fuel mileage is 27 city and 36 highway with the CVT transmission, which I recommend over the 6-speed manual, which delivers 24 and 34 MPG, respectively.

Consumers can then move up the Accord ladder to Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L V6 and top line Touring V6, the latter loaded with numerous luxury amenities and a powerful V-6 under the hood. There is also a two-door coupe for the younger set, which is equally impressive.

Speaking of the V6, get ready for some real Honda horsepower and good fuel mileage, too. The 278 horsepower feels more like 350 for whatever reason, and the non-CVT six-speed automatic is properly geared for both performance and economy.

On the highway, Accord Touring is poised and ready for any merge or curve you throw at it thanks to a front strut and rear multi-link independent suspension. You'll enjoy secure handling and a ride that is quiet and refined with room for five adults.

Important numbers include a wheelbase of 109.3 inches, 3,559 lb. curb weight, 15.8 cu. ft. of cargo space and a 17.2 gallon fuel tank.

There's little not like about Honda's all new Accord, and you owe it to yourself to see and drive on if you are shopping this market. You won't be disappointed.

2013 Honda CR-Z debuts in Paris with more power than ever

2013_honda_crz

The 2013 Honda CR-Z is powered by the same 1.5L 4-cylinder engine as the models currently in US showrooms but thanks to a new camshaft, a retuned variable valve timing system and a new engine control unit tune, the 2013 CR-Z gasoline engine offers 120 horsepower – up from the 112 offered for the 2012 model year. Next, the electric assist portion of the CR-Z’s hybrid drivetrain has received a new lithium ion battery that produces 20 horsepower compared to the outgoing Nickel Metal Hybrid (Ni-MH) battery setup that offered just 14 horsepower. The 2013 CR-Z also features a new Plus Sport boost system that offers increased acceleration power when the battery is at least 50% charger. The system is activated by the S+ button on the steering wheel (shown above on the right) and when the driver hits the gas – the electric boost system engages and provides more power to the wheels for up to 10 seconds. The S+ system works in ECON, Normal and Sport modes with a gauge on the dash to let the driver know when the system is active and available.

When the revamped gasoline engine and the new battery system work together, the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system of the 2013 Honda CR-Z offers a total figure of 135 horsepower (+13hp) and 140lb-ft of torque (+12lb-ft). This increase in power for the 2013 model combined with the Plus Sport mode equates to a 0-62 time that is 7 tenths of a second quicker than the outgoing model (now 9 seconds flat) and a top speed of 124 miles per hour.

Finally, the 2013 Honda CR-Z sport hybrid offers impressive figures of 47.1 miles per gallon around town, 64.2mpg on the highway and a combined figure of 56.5mpg. Unfortunately, those are based on the European test cycle so we can expect the official EPA numbers to be significantly lower when the tuned up 2013 CR-Z arrives in the US.

In addition to the improved engine output, the 2013 Honda CR-Z receives an exterior refresh that also puts a bit more emphasis on the sporty nature of this hybrid hatchback. Across the front end is a new front fascia that houses a revised grille treatment while the back end wears a new lower portion with an aerodynamic splitter design. The 2013 CR-Z GT model gets a new set of 17” alloy wheels while all new CR-Z models will now be available in two hard-to-miss new hues - Energetic Yellow and Aurora Violet (shown in the gallery on the right). Inside, the CR-Z receives a new color scheme along with new door linings that improve the amount of interior storage space.

Truth be told, the modest increases made to the drivetrain of the 2013 Honda CR-Z aren’t going to rocket this sporty little hybrid to the top of the motorsports world but the improvements made to every aspect of the Integrated Motor Assist system should help to make the CR-Z more engaging to drive. The improvement in the 0-62 time of 7 tenths of a second is substantial enough for this car to satisfy those were felt that the original CR-Z hybrid needed a little more juice.

Honda unveils the all-new 2013 CR - V at the Paris International Motor Show 2012

2013_honda_cr-v_photo
The all new Honda CR – V is here to rule the streets. The fourth generation CR – V was recently unveiled by Honda at the Paris International Motor Show 2012 and this mid-sized off road beast will go up on sale in the United Kingdom this October.

The redesigned CR – V is a front wheel drive vehicle sporting a 1.6 liter turbo charged engine with a CO2 emission rate of just 99 g/km. The CR – V is here to make a statement and the vehicle is more advanced in terms of performance and technology as compared to its predeceasing model.

The new redesigned CR – V is what Honda calls the perfect balance between an SUV and a car and the vehicle basically features the same wheelbase and dynamics of the current model. However, the exterior designing is stiffer and more composed and hence the vehicle looks better than its predecessor.

The headlamps are wrapped over the front grille and the side panels are sharper and the Volvo like tail lamps wraps the rear end of the vehicle. The styling is more contemporary and the vehicle gets an overall complete look.
The interior styling has however been modified and the vehicle feels more spacious and airy from the inside. On folding the rear seats, this space is increased further and the roomy feelings kicks in just as you enter the vehicle.

The CR –V is powered by the very familiar 2.2 liter I DTEC super charged diesel engine and the SUV produces 148 BHP and 258 ft lb of torque. Co2 emission is limited to 149 g/km and the engine is mated to a six speed manual transmission and an automatic stop / start system which help the vehicle increase fuel efficiency.

Apart from the 2.2 liter I DTEC, the CR – V also has a much refined 2.0 liter super charged I VTEC petrol engine which produces 148 BHP and 142 ft lb of torque. Co2 emission is as low as 168 g/km and this is comparatively frugal considering an SUV. Honda plans to launch a remodeled CR – V with a 1.6 liter engine and this model will be announced next year.

The CR – V is a four wheel drive monster when at rest and switches to front wheel drive when the vehicle is in motion. The roof line has been dropped by 30 mm and the seat base has been dropped down by another 38 mm. Hence, the ride height has been lowered but the head space has seen an increase.

The CR – V is more car like than most SUVs as its ride height is just 10 mm more than a normal sedan. The rear cabin space is increased by the exclusion of the centre tunnel which is present in most front wheel drive vehicles.

The CR – V features a boot space of 559 liter which can be increased to 1669 liters with the removal of the rear seat. The seats are folded automatically and the boot floor loading area is 30 mm closer to the ground than the present model.

A Peek at 2014: Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid

2014_honda_accord_plug-in_hybrid_photo

The usual order of things in the auto industry dictates that conventional, high-volume cars come first and niche products like hybrids come a distant second if they come at all.

Honda is bucking the trend by preparing to roll out a plug-in-hybrid version of its redesigned Accord sedan early next year, just a few months after the bread-and-butter gasoline-powered model goes on sale. A standard hybrid will follow next summer. The moves reflect the growing importance of hybrids in the U.S. market — and Honda’s desire to trump the Prius hybrids built by its nemesis Toyota Motors Corp.

Driver’s Seat took a test-drive in a pre-production Accord plug-in this week.

I have yet to drive the regular Accord, so the plug-in was my first experience with the redesigned model. Because the car ran for just over 12 miles on electric power alone, I had an opportunity to test its “NVH,” which is autospeak for noise, vibration and harshness. These are all bad things in the car business — some of which have plagued Honda for years.

Noise from mechanical systems, wind and tires is a common complaint from Honda drivers. Compared with the top-selling Toyota Camry, the Accord has always been a bit buzzy. It drives some motorists to distraction — and, presumably, to other brands.

What stood out with the plug-in was its near-silent running in local driving and on the highway. Even without the engine masking other sounds, I didn’t notice the usual racket from wind or tires. Indeed, the car was so quiet that the engine caused a major disturbance when it kicked in. This suggests other versions will also be quieter than before.

Still, compared with other hybrids, plug-in or not, the Accord felt smoother and more solid, with the overall feel of a more-expensive car. Most of my drives were fairly short and didn’t require much use of the gasoline engines, which also kicks in for heavy acceleration. So my fuel economy was well over 100 miles per gallon for every outing.

This Accord plug-in could be a breakthrough among non-Prius hybrids. Honda has not released a price yet, but if it isn’t too steep the plug-in could convince many drivers to take the leap into hybrids.

The 2013 Honda Accord Releases TODAY! Final 2013 Honda Accord Data: Press Release: All-New 2013 Honda Accord Brings Remarkable Levels of Luxury, Agility, Efficiency and Sophistication to Midsize Segment's Legendary Nameplate

Ninth-generation Accord offers all-new direct-injected powertrain, class-leading safety innovations and upcoming plug-in hybrid model

TORRANCE, Calif. September 05, 2012
01-2013-honda-accord-sedan

Honda today announced the all-new 2013 Accord Sedan and Coupe, a storied nameplate that will once again redefine sophistication, efficiency and driving joy in the midsize class. Completely redesigned for 2013, the all-new Honda Accord provides a host of powertrain, engineering, electronic and safety firsts combined with Honda's trademark visibility and smart design.

Better, not bigger, the completely new Honda Accord lineup includes Sedan and Coupe models powered by 4-cylinder, V-6 and hybrid powertrains, teamed to manual, automatic and continuously variable transmission (CVT) options. The 2013 Honda Accord Sedan goes on sale September 19, 2012, with the Coupe to follow on October 15, 2012. An all-new, two-motor 2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) Sedan is scheduled to debut in early 2013, followed by a conventional hybrid based on the same powertrain architecture in the summer of 2013.

Using the most high-strength steel in the model's history, the 2013 Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe bodies combine sophisticated and athletic styling with remarkable aerodynamic streamlining. Revised Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structures improve frontal crash safety, making the all-new Accord one of few midsize offerings expected to excel in the upcoming small-overlap frontal barrier crash test.

All-new Earth Dreams™ powertrains include the first U.S. application of Honda's next-generation 2.4-liter direct-injected 4-cylinder engine. The 2013 Accord Sedan and Coupe will also offer a more powerful and efficient V-6, and in early 2013, an all-new two-motor 2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) Sedan will debut. Four transmissions are available, including the first-ever application of a continuously variable transmission (CVT) on 2.4-liter 4-cylinder models, a six-speed automatic on V-6 models, and unique 6-speed manual transmissions on 2.4-liter 4-cylinder models and the 3.5-liter V-6 Coupe. Fuel efficiency is the best ever for an Accord in the EPA Midsize class, with 4-cylinder models earning up to an EPA 36 mpg highway rating1 and V-6 models getting up to an EPA 34 mpg highway rating.1

Other new Accord technologies include the first application of the all-new cloud-based HondaLink™ system, which lets drivers put away their smartphones and still stay connected to the people, music and social media they love. Also debuting on the 2013 Accord is the exclusive available Honda LaneWatch™ blind-spot display, which uses a camera system mounted on the passenger mirror for an enhanced view of the passenger-side roadway. The all-new 2013 Honda Accord also receives a rearview camera and an Expanded View Driver's Mirror as standard equipment.

New Accord Technology

  • Honda's first use of direct injection (DI) in North America contributes to the 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine's excellent fuel efficiency and low emissions.
  • A new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), available with the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, contributes to the Accord's improved fuel efficiency. Honda's unique G-Design Shift logic creates a connected feel and provides a more immediate acceleration response than conventional automatics or other CVT designs.
  • New MacPherson-strut front suspension improves ride and handling qualities, while also reducing interior noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). The new lighter aluminum and steel front subframe also uses a proprietary Honda friction-stir welding process.
  • Three features highly coveted by consumers are now standard on every new Accord: Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, USB/iPod® integration and rearview camera. No other manufacturer provides this level of standard equipment. Honda's Expanded View Driver's Mirror is also now standard equipment on every Accord.
  • All Accord models feature standard Econ button with Eco Assist™
  • Included on Accord EX, EX-L and Touring Sedan models and EX-L Coupe, Honda LaneWatch™ Blind Spot Display provides an expanded rear view of the passenger side roadway through the intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID).
  • All-new Smart Entry & Push Button Start included on Accord EX, EX-L and Touring models.
  • Included on EX-L and Touring Sedan and EX-L Coupe models, Forward Collision Warning (FCW) alerts the driver when a potential collision with another vehicle ahead is detected.
  • Included on Accord EX-L and Touring models, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) alerts the driver when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use.
  • New SmartVent side airbags mitigate the risk of excessive airbag deployment force while eliminating the need for the prior Accord's Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS). SmartVent also allows improved heating of the passenger seatback on EX-L and Touring models.
  • The Accord Touring Sedan offers Honda's first light emitting diode (LED) projector headlights for improved visibility. In addition, LED daytime running lights (DRLs) are found on V-6 powered models, while LED brake lights come on all EX-L and Touring models.
  • Exclusive to the Touring Sedan, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) allows the driver to set a desired speed and a distance interval behind the vehicle ahead.
  • The all-new available HondaLink connected-car system allows owners to put their smartphones away and still stay connected to their favorite digital content.

Model Lineup
The 2013 Honda Accord Sedan will be available in six model choices, including an all-new top-spec Touring trim (LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L V6, and Touring), with the 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid Sedan arriving early in 2013. The striking 2013 Honda Accord Coupe will be available in four model choices (LX-S, EX, EX-L and EX-L V6).

The 2013 Accord Sedan is available in nine exterior colors, including four metallic and five pearl colors. All-new colors include Champagne Frost Pearl, Hematite Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic and Obsidian Blue Pearl. The 2013 Accord Coupe is available in seven exterior colors, including two metallic, five pearl and one solid color. All-new colors include Modern Steel Metallic, Still Night Pearl, Tiger Eye Pearl and White Orchid Pearl.

Powertrain
As in previous generations, two gasoline engines are available on the 2013 Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe. These include a new Earth Dreams™ 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with Honda's first use of direct injection in North America, and an Earth Dreams™ 3.5-liter V-6 with revised VTEC + VCM functions. The base 185-horsepower (hp) 4-cylinder engine is coupled to a choice of an efficient new continuously variable transmission (CVT), or a new fun-to-shift 6-speed manual transmission on selected models. The Accord Sport Sedan model provides a 189-horsepower version of the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. Meanwhile, Accord V-6 models feature a 278-horsepower 3.5-liter engine coupled to a 6-speed automatic or, in the V-6 Coupe, a 6-speed manual transmission.

In early 2013, the 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid will debut Honda's new 2.0-liter 4-cylinder two-motor plug-in hybrid system. Available in the Sedan only, this system operates continuously through three modes – all-electric, gasoline-electric and direct-drive – to maximize fuel efficiency.

Body
Crisply styled and aerodynamically efficient, the 2013 Accord Sedan and Coupe body designs are the most sophisticated in Accord history. The 2013 Accord unit-body uses 55.8-percent high-tensile steel, more than in any previous Accord. In addition, 17.2-percent of the steel is now grade 780, 980 and 1,500 – extremely high grades that have never before been used in any Accord. This contributes to higher body rigidity and reduced weight, which directly benefits ride and handling, interior quietness, performance and efficiency and long-term durability.

With its contoured body-sides, the Sedan's exterior design is sleek, bold and decisive, while the Coupe's design is rakish, taut and athletic. Extensive use of under-covers improve aerodynamics for increased fuel efficiency, while other advances include available LED headlights, DRLs and brake lights, mirror-mounted turn signals, and the standard Expanded View Driver's Mirror that increases the driver's field of vision by 4.2 degrees.

Chassis
Literally every aspect of the Accord's chassis was reviewed or redesigned to create the best possible driving experience. Altogether, the highly rigid unit-body, refined suspension technology and advanced electronics define the 2013 Accord chassis as the most capable in model history. The new Accord is quieter and more responsive on city streets, smoother and more composed on the highway, and even more faithful to the driver's wishes on winding roads.

New features for Accord include a MacPherson strut front suspension, a steel and aluminum front subframe and electric power steering (EPS). Standard Active Noise Control (ANC) and Active Sound Control (ASC) on both 4-cylinder and V-6 models counteract engine noise, particularly at high rpm.

The lightweight MacPherson strut front suspension improves ride and handling qualities while also reducing interior noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). The new aluminum and steel front subframe reduces weight and, in conjunction with the new independent multi-link rear suspension, further reduces NVH. Careful aerodynamic tailoring of the underbody and suspension systems provides additional noise reductions.

The new EPS setup uses an electric motor to assist the rack-and-pinion steering rather than the hydraulic assist of the previous Accord. The result is reduced steering effort and fuel consumption, with improved precision, feel and stability.

Alloy wheels are now standard across the Accord model range, and range in size from 16 to 18 inches. Four-wheel disc brakes are also standard, as is Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) with Brake Assist, a 4-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Hill start assist is also now standard on the Accord.

Interior
A completely new interior provides a level of luxury and craftsmanship never before seen in the Accord. Available in Black, Gray and Ivory cloth or leather, the interior combines welcoming comfort with an impressive range of available technologies. Standard features include redesigned seating, dual-zone automatic climate control and simplified controls and instrumentation.

Compared to the prior edition, both the 2013 Accord Sedan and Coupe offer spacious accommodations for five passengers, and a roomy trunk with a flatter load floor for greater utility. Although the Accord's length has decreased over three inches and the wheelbase is almost an inch shorter, key interior dimensions grow. Rear legroom increases over an inch, both front and rear shoulder room increase, and trunk space is up over a cubic foot. Altogether, the interior is remarkably quiet, stylish and upscale, with high-quality materials, exemplary fit and finish, and advanced seating comfort and ergonomics.

Contemporary onboard electronics help the Accord driver seamlessly interface with the latest generation of compatible personal mobile electronics. Standard features on all Accords include a bright, full-color 8-inch (diagonal) "intelligent" Multi-Information Display (i-MID), Bluetooth®2 HandsFreeLink® phone interface, Pandora® internet radio interface and an SMS text messaging feature. A new available Audio with touchscreen display and the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with Voice Recognition and FM Traffic is also available.

The 2013 Accord is also the first Honda product to offer available HondaLink™ technology, which works with the owner's compatible smartphone to connect the Accord with music and media resources such as Aha™ by Harman, internet apps, roadside assistance and more. Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) are also available.

Safety
The 2013 Accord Sedan and Coupe offer the greatest range of active and passive safety features in Honda history. Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) is standard on all Accord models, and available new technologies include Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

Collision safety engineering includes the updated Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, which improves occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions, and the most extensive use of high-strength steel in Accord history. The Accord's impact-absorbing front body design can even help attenuate energy in the event of a frontal collision with a pedestrian.

Passive-safety features include six airbags, including dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags. New SmartVent™ side airbags reduce the risk of excessive airbag deployment force and eliminate the need for the Accord's previous Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS).

Based on internal testing, both the 2013 Accord Sedan and Coupe are expected to earn a TOP SAFETY PICK rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) and 5-star ratings in federal National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash tests3.

Manufacturing
Celebrating 30 years of Accord production in the United States, the all-new 2013 Honda represents the expanding capabilities of Honda in North America. Virtually every aspect of the Accord was developed, tested and finalized by Honda associates throughout California and Ohio. The Accord is produced4 in Ohio by Honda of America Mfg. "I'm so sad to see so many terrible reviews on here, my experience at Dublin Honda was fantastic! I've been there twice, once three years ago to lease a 2010 civic, where I received excellent customer service and attention from Jason, and again today when I turned in the civic and bought a pre-owned 2007 Jeep Compass from Will. He was great! He got me a great deal with the financing I wanted, I drive away happy with my fabulous new car, and he didn't even laugh at me when I was a little rusty on the manual transmission. I would highly recommend Ken Harvey's Dublin Honda to anyone looking to buy or lease a car, I was treated with nothing but respect and truthfully, the experience was a lot of fun!"

The 2013 Honda Accord Releases Tomorrow! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Sweet 6-Speed Automatic

Honda-accord-6-speed

Sweet 6-Speed Automatic

To maximize acceleration and fuel efficiency, the 2013 Accord V-6 is available with an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission.

Accord V-6 is the first Honda sedan to feature a new 6-speed automatic transmission that advances launch feel and acceleration performance. Combined with Accord V-6’s Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) system, the new transmission is a major factor in the car’s improved fuel efficiency.

Compared to the previous-generation 5-speed transmission, the new 6-speed transmission can have a wider gear ratio spread that offers aggressive lower ratios for strong acceleration, coupled with a top gear that makes for relaxed and fuel-efficient highway cruising. The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: Just 2 Days Away! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Automatic Dual-Zone Climate Control

2012-09-17_1718

Automatic Dual-Zone Climate Control

Dual-zone automatic climate control lets you have it your way.

Peace at last; no more climate wars in the new Accord.

All Accord models feature a dual-zone automatic climate control system with independent left and right temperature controls. A single temperature can be selected for the entire cabin, or the driver and front passenger can set different temperatures for their side of the cabin.

On navigation-equipped models, the dual-zone climate control system uses Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to monitor the vehicle position relative to the sun, making necessary adjustments to help ensure that selected interior temperatures remain stable in the respective zones. This is one smart car.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 5 Days Left! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

2012-09-14_1518

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

The Accord Touring Sedan’s Adaptive Cruise Control helps cope with the ebb and flow of highway traffic.

New Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is exclusive to the Accord Touring Sedan in the Honda lineup. As with a conventional cruise-control system, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) allows the driver to set a desired speed. But ACC goes a step further, allowing the driver to set a desired speed and the following distance behind the vehicle ahead.

While cruising, engagement of Adaptive Cruise Control prompts the driver to select a short, medium or long distance behind the vehicle ahead. ACC then modulates the throttle and applies moderate braking, if necessary, to hold the selected following distance.

Drivers will find that Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) simplifies driving and helps reduce fatigue by automatically controlling the distance to the vehicle ahead.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: One Week Left! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Excitement Meets Efficiency with VCM (Variable Cylinder Management)

320px-honda_j35a_vcm_engine

Excitement Meets Efficiency with VCM.

Accord V-6 models with the 6-speed automatic transmission feature Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) for the best of both worlds.

The 2013 Accord’s new, more powerful V-6 can also stretch fuel further with an overall improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the outgoing model. Plus, it offers greater smoothness and more consistent power delivery than the turbocharged 4-cylinder engines in some competitive cars.

How does VCM work? During startup, aggressive acceleration or when climbing hills – any time high power output is required – the engine operates on all six cylinders. During moderate-speed cruising and at low or moderate engine loads, the system operates on a reduced number of cylinders.

The VCM system can change the working displacement of the engine to match the driving requirements from moment to moment. It’s like having a small engine when you only need a little power and a big engine when you really need to move. Since the system automatically closes both the intake and exhaust valves of the cylinders that are not used, pumping losses associated with intake and exhaust are eliminated and fuel efficiency gets a further boost.

The VCM system combines maximum performance and maximum fuel efficiency – two characteristics that don’t happily coexist in conventional engines. Glad to say they get along just fine in the new Accord V-6 automatic.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 8 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: A Third Eye On the Road

Lanedeparturewarning

A Third Eye On the Road.

Honda’s first application of Lane Departure Warning (LDW) comes as an available feature in the 2013 Accord.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is an available technology on the new Accord. The system uses a digital camera mounted behind the windshield to monitor the roadway ahead to alert the driver if the car is unexpectedly moving out of its intended lane. Think of LDW as one more eye on the road. One that doesn’t blink.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 9 Days! More is Better...

2013_honda_accord_ex_l_v_6_sedan004
More Is Better.

The 2013 Accord 4-cylinder has over 177 lb.-ft. of torque – more than the 2012 Camry or 2012 Malibu 4-cylinder engines offer.

The midsize sedan field is pretty competitive, so it’s nice to come out of the gate with an advantage drivers will enjoy day in and day out. Accord’s Earth Dreams™ direct-injected engine offers spectacular fuel efficiency coupled with much stronger torque than the previous-generation engine – a whopping 16 lb.-ft. increase. And that great torque is right in the rpm operating range you’ll often experience in typical driving. That means confident merging and easy passing.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 12 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Just Picture It (Standard Rearview Camera)

Rearcameradisplay

Just Picture It.

Every 2013 Accord has a standard rearview camera to help take the guesswork out of backing up.

Rearview cameras are already standard on Honda’s trucks and SUVs. Now with the 2013 Accord, they’re coming to the Honda passenger-car line, too. Accord has a single-view camera, while EX-L and higher models have a multi-angle rearview camera like the one on CR-V.

When you’re maneuvering in tight quarters, a rearward view is priceless. And in the new Accord, it’s standard.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 13 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Style Meets Substance

2013accordpeek

Style Meets Substance.

The all-new Accord takes Honda’s exterior styling in a fresh, athletic direction.

Accord has always been known for delivering the virtues that owners are after – things like comfort, roominess, features and proven value. With the arrival of the all-new Accord, though, those virtues are wrapped in athletic and expressive new styling.

Accord Sedan’s body sides are dramatic, with a character line flowing upward and rearward across the door surfaces, and a deep contour strategically positioned at the lower door panels. Bright window-surround trim adds a luxury feel, while in back, the tops of the rear fenders curve inward toward the C-pillars like flexed muscles. The EX-L and Touring models offer chrome door handles and additional trim on the rear panel for added elegance.

To give the cabin an open, airy feel for both front and rear passengers, Accord has a relatively low beltline, large glass area and thin A-pillars.

The new Accord Coupe is the most dramatic 2-door Accord yet. Its front end is set apart with a large lower radiator opening. The large front wheel arches flow into deep character lines that sweep across the doors and back to the muscular rear wheel arches, while the flowing roofline draws the eye up and over the windswept cabin.

Careful sculpting on the lower door sides helps to direct airflow around the rear tires. The roofline, body side character lines and rear wheel arches all converge at the deck-lid, drawing the eye to the rear spoiler on the V-6 models.

For customers, the newfound style gives Accord an added dimension.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: Just Two Weeks Away! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Pumped-Up V-6 Performance

Honda-sohc_i-vtec
Pumped-Up V-6 Performance.

Accord V-6 has increased horsepower and torque from a re-engineered 3.5-liter, 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC® engine.

Accord’s newly reworked and more powerful available V-6 can be paired with a new 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Normally, greater power cuts into fuel efficiency, but not in the 2013 Accord. With features like i-VTEC®, Variable Cylinder Management™ and the available 6-speed automatic transmission, Accord V-6 is targeted to achieve top-of-class fuel efficiency. More performance, less fuel costs; what’s not to like?

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 19 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Just Wait Till You See It - In Color.

Just Wait Till You See It – In Color.

Every new Accord features a big, full-color intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), so it’s easy to access a wide range of useful information.

The great-looking i-MID is the focal point of Accord’s instrument panel and gives the interior an upscale, advanced feel. It’s very cool, but you’ll just have to be patient until we can show you what it looks like (come back to the launch website after September 5th). Trust us. It's a colorful example of the car’s much greater standard feature content in every model grade.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 20 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Can You Count to Infinity? (Continuously Variable Transmission)

Can You Count to Infinity?

The 2013 Accord 4-cylinder’s Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) has more gear ratios than you’d care to count.

Conventional automatic transmissions typically have five or six gear ratios to choose from, so the shift logic selects the gear that is the closest to ideal for the situation.

Accord’s CVT, on the other hand, has two variable-width pulleys connected by a metallic belt. The belt can circle the angled pulley faces at varying diameters, depending on the pulley width. The change in effective diameter alters the ratio between the pulleys.

What does that mean in plain English? Instead of approximating the correct ratio for the conditions like a conventional automatic does, Accord’s CVT can precisely select the optimum ratio from moment to moment without conventional shifts or slippage. So if you need power, efficiency – or both – there’s a gear for that (and hundreds more).

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown Begins: 21 Days! In the meantime, we will be providing daily information regarding this highly anticipated release direct from Honda, beginning with: Fewer Gas Pains

Fewer Gas Pains.

With significantly improved fuel efficiency for a midsize automatic-equipped sedan, the 2013 Accord 4-cylinder can save you money at the pump.

Even though the 2013 Accord has more equipment and features than ever before, and it has a new 4-cylinder engine with more horsepower and considerably more torque than the engine it replaces, the vehicle is substantially more fuel-efficient.

What are the main reasons? More use of lighter, stronger steel, a new direct injection system and the available Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). With an essentially infinite range of available gear ratios, the CVT has just the right gear for every situation, maximizing efficiency – and gas station drive-bys.

2013 Honda Accord production fires up with Earth Dreams power

By Jonathon Ramsey  l Posted Aug 20th 2012 4:02PM

01-2013-honda-accord-sedan
"Production of the "Earth Dreams" powertrains that will slot into the 2013 Honda Accord got underway at the Japanese automaker's Anna Engine and Honda Transmission Mfg. plants last week, and both facilities have begun feeding engines and gearboxes to the Marysville, Ohio, assembly lines where the 2013 Accord has started rolling off the lines. A ceremony marking the start of the new generation's assembly today also served to celebrate Honda's 30 years of production in the States.

As one would expect with car as important to Honda as the ninth-generation Accord, the company has made a huge investment in the North American debut of its new direct-injected, 2.4-liter four-cylinder, a new CVT transmission and a 3.5-liter V6 and its optional six-speed automatic. Honda has spent $220 million on expansions, casting operations and automated lines for its associates, and the plant is now able to make 1.8 million Earth Dreams engines annually.

The new engines are said to be good for a 10-percent improvement in fuel economy compared to current offerings, and the powerplants will eventually migrate to other models in Honda's lineup. Check out the press releases below for more information"
